History Of Harsil

 

Although the history of Harsil Village is very old, the arrival of tourists in Harsil started some time ago. Earlier, this place was known to those people who used to come and go from there for business But later, after the 20th century, this place started being seen as a tourist destination The reason for this was Gangotri Dham which is the second Dham of the famous Chardham Yatra of India. Harsil is a place located near Gangotri Dham. When roads were improved in the 1980s and travel to Gangotri became accessible, Harsil began to be seen more as a stopover.

How to Reach

By Road

If you want to go from Delhi to Harsil by taxi, car or bus, then you will first come to Haridwar or Rishikesh. The distance from Delhi to Haridwar is less than 240 to 250 km, this journey will take you about 5 to 6 hours. After that, you will leave Haridwar for Harsil. The distance from Haridwar to Harsil is approximately 280 km, it will take you 7 to 8 hours to reach Harsil from Haridwar.

By Train

If you want to go to Harsil by train then you will have to reach Rishikesh Railway Station first because the nearest railway station to Harsil is in Rishikesh. It will take you 6 to 7 hours to reach Rishikesh from Delhi. Then you will have to book a taxi from Rishikesh to Harsil or you can also reach Harsil by bus services. It will take you 7 to 8 hours to reach Harsil from Rishikesh.

By Air

If you want to go from Delhi to Harsil by Air then you will have to take a flight from Delhi to Dehradun Jolly Grand Airport because Dehradun airport is the nearest airport to Harsil. The flight time from Delhi to Dehra Doon will be 1 hour, then from Dehra Doon you can go to Harsil by taxi, which will take you 6:30-7:30 hours.
