Historay Of Almor
Almora is a district located in Kumaon of Uttarakhand state. This city was settled by the Raja Chand dynasty in 1563, at that time the name of Almora was Alamgarh. Then in 1790 the Gorkhas attacked Garhwal and established their kingdom. Then in 1814, the British army attacked Kashipur after the Gorkha War. Then in 1815, Colonel Gardner left Kashipur for Katarmal with his army and later another contingent of 2000 soldiers joined them And also Hastidal Shah from Nepal had also come out with 500 soldiers to protect Almora. There was a battle between these two armies in Vinayathal in which the Gorkhas were defeated and both their commanders Hastidal Shah and Jairakha were martyred. After this, Nicholas with his contingent attacked Almora, captured it, and established British rule.
